Project Profile

James A. Michener Museum, Edgar N. Putnam Event Pavilion

The Museum sits in the Cultural Center of Doylestown, PA.  This project exhibits a unique and bold use of insulated structural glass panels consisting of five laminated layers of glass, which were specially manufactured in Germany.  Each panel weighs approx. 3,350 pounds and is among the largest self-supporting insulated glass panels in the world. The Museum remained open and fully operational during construction. Work was performed in a confined area within 8’ of the walls of the former Bucks County Prison built in 1884.
